Discovering Dale Abbey
Surrounded by ancient woodland, open countryside, historic ruins and winding country lanes, Dale Abbey is a landscape shaped by history, weather and the changing seasons. Since making the village his home, Phillip has found himself looking more closely at the places around him — discovering how even the most familiar views can become completely different beneath morning mist, changing light or the arrival of a new season.
Discovering Dale Abbey is Phillip’s ongoing photographic exploration of the village and its surrounding landscape. From bluebells beneath the woodland canopy and mist drifting across the fields, to ancient ruins, quiet footpaths and those fleeting moments when extraordinary light transforms somewhere familiar, the project is about finding beauty in the landscape closest to home.
At the heart of the project is an interactive illustrated map of Dale Abbey, created to give visitors a better understanding of the landscape behind Phillip’s photographs. It brings together many of the places, landmarks and quieter corners that feature throughout his work, allowing visitors to explore the village and see how these locations sit within the landscape Phillip regularly walks and photographs.
This is Dale Abbey through Phillip’s eyes — a landscape he calls home, and one he is still discovering.

Discovering Dale Abbey
A photographic eBook by Phillip William Jenner, exploring Dale Abbey through the changing seasons. Featuring original landscape photography, personal stories and the moments behind each photograph.
Landscape Photography
For more than a decade, his camera has travelled through some of the UK’s most remarkable landscapes. From witnessing temperature inversions drifting across the Peak District at dawn, to sleeping beneath the stars in the Lake District, and embracing the raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands in winter, every journey has shaped both the photographer and the photographs he creates.
His passion has also taken him beyond the UK, photographing destinations including New York, Poland, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Barcelona. Each place has offered fresh perspectives, new challenges and inspiration that continues to influence his work.
Yet some of Phillip’s most meaningful photographs have been created much closer to home.
BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPHS
From the Field Notes
There is always a little more to a photograph than what fits inside the frame.

The Print Store
For Phillip, creating a print is the final part of the photographic process — and one he takes immense pride in. Every image is carefully prepared and printed with the same attention to detail, colour and quality that goes into capturing it in the first place. From the paper and inks to the finished print, Phillip expects nothing but the highest standards at every stage, ensuring each photograph is produced to faithfully reflect his original vision and is something to be enjoyed for years to come.
